I captured this impressionistic daytime view of Kilauea's smoldering caldera from the edge of the crater rim several years before her explosive eruption in 2018. The other-worldly landscape of ash and destruction is a reminder of how small we truly are in the grand scheme of Earth's ongoing formation.
