HISTORIC PORTRAIT GALLERY at Susannah's Watch Bed & Breakfast, Mechanicsville, MD
I was commissioned to paint several historic reproduction portraits of colonial ancestry behind the Susannah's Watch property, which were unveiled for viewing in fall 2020. Painted after colonial portraitist works, some no longer extant, prints and giclée reproductions of these commission pieces may be custom ordered by contacting the artist here. Portraits include the prominent Henry and Eleanor Darnall the first, grandchildren Henry and Eleanor the second, Governor Richard Bennett of Virginia, and Jane Bowles Wormeley.

During fine days you may find me painting in the countryside around St. Augustine, World Golf Village and elsewhere on the First Coast. Spectators are welcome to watch me work en plein air. Check my Instagram @leigh_slayden or Facebook/LASlayden to learn where I am, outdoors or in studio, and watch the work come together--you can even ask to purchase before someone else does! Many paintings never make it into the web gallery before they are purchased by avid followers while they are still wet.
